3 Reasons to Outsource EHS Compliance
- Subject Matter Expertise
Outsourcing EHS allows you to hire a well-trained team of experts, equipped with the resources they need to get the job done. A qualified environmental consulting firm will be up-to-date on all regulatory compliance matters, with decades of experience in the EHS field, and knowledgeable about how the current and upcoming regulations may impact facility operations.
- Efficiency
Periodic assessment by qualified EHS team can help determine the action plan for EHS compliance program. The facility can select the areas that need attention and have a clear understanding of resources required to ensure compliance moving forward. Compliance services can range from full EHS program execution; full-time or part-time on-site presence; facility EHS document preparation & submittal to the regulatory agencies; or services on an as-needed basis.
- Cost
Hiring a dedicated team of environmental staff does come with substantial costs. This cost may not be worth the value when the amount of resources required are taken into account. Example: constant training, different tools for undertaking the tasks, employee compensation, and pitfalls of group think!
On-site EHS staff may be necessary if the facility is a major facility, has complex recordkeeping & reporting requirements, or is implementing a compliance improvement program. Nonetheless, a select management level EHS staff can coordinate, supervise, and review the draft reports prepared by consultants before they are final; thus reducing the need for major in-house efforts.
Feel free to call Sam Joshi at (215) 389-2811 to discuss how to streamline the EHS program while maintaining continuous compliance.
